Ten years ago, Margi Sharp Douglas and Rachel Benbow Murdy joined forces with director Cynthia Croot to create the original “The Millay Sisters: A Cabaret.” The piece was performed at The Ancram Opera House in upstate New York, Don’t Tell Mama NYC, The Abingdon Arts Complex, NYC, and at the Orlando Cabaret Festival/Mad Cow Theater, Orlando, FL.
“Margi Sharp and Rachel Murdy certainly have the pipes to pull it off… Their singing of period songs is a pure delight.“—Backstage
In 2012, The Millay Sisters traveled to Opera House Arts in Stonington, Maine, where it was a smashing success, receiving tremendous praise from local audiences. Invited back as part of the 2013 season and commissioned for further rewrites—The Millay Sisters evolved into a two-act theater piece combining the best elements of cabaret and a fully-staged dramatic work. After enthusiastic audience response and encouragement, we are bringing the show to the Gowanus Loft in Brooklyn, with the hopes of bringing it to new audiences and creating more Edna St. Vincent Millay enthusiasts.
